About This Project:
The Vancouver Stock Exchange Building completed construction and opened its doors in July, 1929 only months before the stock market crash of October 1929. The Vancouver Stock Exchange building’s massive design represents a pillar of strength in the financial community and a unique combination of art-deco and gothic architecture seen in this era. Today, the Exchange has become a boutique hotel that now has a glass tower standing 31 storeys behind it. In 2016, Vintage Woodworks was a part of the restoration, thermal and seismic upgrade of this incredible building. Vintage manufactured 56 new curve top windows and 179 new sash sets to match historic profiles while providing increase thermal efficiency, sound reduction and seismic performance. The restoration has received the 2021 BC Heritage Award of Honour in Conservation, the 2019 City of Vancouver Heritage Award of Honour and the 2017 American Architecture Prize.
